Quantity Surveyor

Location: Brisbane

Position Overview: We are currently seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in heavy civils projects and possess strong analytical, numerical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare and evaluate cost estimates, budgets, and tender documents for heavy civils projects, including roads, bridges, tunnels, and infrastructure.
  2. Conduct quantity take-offs and measurements from drawings and specifications to accurately estimate quantities of materials, labour, and equipment required for projects.
  3. Analyse project specifications and contract terms to identify potential risks, variations, and opportunities for cost savings or value engineering.
  4. Liaise with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather pricing information, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with project requirements.
  5. Monitor project costs, expenditures, and variations, and prepare regular cost reports, forecasts, and financial statements to track project performance and profitability.
  6. Assist in the preparation of interim valuations, progress claims, and final accounts, and participate in contractual negotiations and dispute resolution processes.
  7. Stay abreast of industry trends, regulations, and best practices in quantity surveying and cost management, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the organization.

Qualifications:

  1. Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in heavy civils projects, with a strong understanding of construction cost management principles and practices.
  2. Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  4. Proficiency in quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office suite.
