Quantity Surveyor – Heathrow Airport

Carmichael UK is looking for a proactive and experienced Quantity Surveyor to manage multiple works packages at Heathrow Airport, from tender through to final account stage. This is an exciting opportunity to take commercial ownership of diverse packages such as Logistics, Firestopping, Dry Lining, Civils & Groundworks, Architectural Metalwork, Builders Work, and Traffic Management, ensuring robust cost control and commercial compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead commercial management of assigned works packages from procurement to final account.

  • Oversee all procurement activities including ITT analysis, contract drafting, and supplier audits.

  • Administer and manage applications for payment, cost reviews, and budget management.

  • Prepare and issue accurate contractual notices, ensuring compliance both up and downstream.

  • Identify and manage contractual and commercial risks and opportunities.

  • Maintain registers of variations, delays, extensions of time, and claims.

  • Support the preparation of monthly valuations, cost reports, forecasts, and Contract Leader reports.

  • Manage subcontract administration including enquiries, negotiations, and close-out.

  • Implement change management and cost control processes.

  • Monitor and update supply chain procurement plans and benchmarks.

  • Liaise with site teams, supply chain, and clients to ensure smooth commercial delivery.

  • Provide contractual and commercial advice to the project/site team.

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.

About You

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying (or working towards completion via apprenticeship/day release).

  • Experience in construction or engineering projects, ideally within airport or complex infrastructure environments.

  • Strong contractual and financial acumen with proven experience in contract administration, data analysis, trend analysis, and forecasting.

  • Knowledge of construction contracts and experienced in using CEMAR.

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to lead and manage multi-discipline meetings.

  • Chartered or actively working towards a recognised professional chartership.
