Carmichael UK are looking for a Schemes Engineer on behalf of a Tier 1 contractor on a Civils project.

Job Purpose:
To assist the Projects Delivery Manager and Construction Manager in the day-to-day management and delivery of Schemes / Projects programme for the HMPF / STICF contracts from Client concept design to preliminary / detailed design through to build on site, final account and as-built drawings.
 
Key Accountabilities:
 
  • Responsible for coordinating Build Programme delivery
  • Buildability reviews of proposed detailed designs with both designer and sub-contractor
  • Develop build programme for acceptance by TfL
  • Early Contractor Involvement where instructed  
  • Liaison with all stakeholders including but not limited to PPD, TfL London Busses, Boroughs, Network Rail and Emergency Services etc.
  • Ensure TM drawings are produced and completed prior to submission with all comments addressed from stakeholders. Ensuring buildability is catered for i.e safety zones.
  • Ensure the S61, PAA’s, PA, TTRO’s and TMAN are submitted in the timescales required by the Client.
  • Completion and sign off of Construction Phase Plans, review of all Risk Assessments and Method Statements
  • Liaison and programming of all sub-contractors  
  • Compliance with Kier SHEQ requirements and Tarmac/Kier Safe Operating Procedure’s
  • Arrange and chair progress meetings with contractors / Client
  • Ensure schemes are constructed in accordance with the approved design and specification
  • Dealing with site queries raised by sub contractor’s
  • Ensure ENW’s and CE’s are raised in a timely manner to both Sub contractor’s and TfL Client as required
  • Manage and book signal switch outs with TfL as required
  • Provision of As-built drawings and post construction information for Client
  • Daily reporting to TfL Client on progress of all ‘live’ schemes
  • Completion of site Health & Safety Audits
 
Typical Skills/Experience
 
  • Highway’s experience essential
  • Ability to multitask and manage a portfolio of schemes
  • Good organisational/communication skills
  • A full UK drivers’ licence
  • Competent IT skills
  • A good knowledge of Chapter 8 Traffic management and Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Work - Specification for Highway Works
  • CSCS card holder preferred
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • Knowledge of H & S practices, compliance with TKJV Health & Safety requirements
  • HNC or equivalent in Civil Engineering
  • SMSTS or SSSTS required
  • NEC form of contract experience essential
