I am looking for an SCL Tunnel Agent to work on an exciting Civils and Tunnelling project in South West London. You will be working for a top tier joint venture consisting of 3 of the premier construction companies.

Out line of role:

The SCL Tunnel Agent is responsible for planning and supervising works at the site within their delivery scope, ensuring all works are planned and carried out safely, to the required standards and are delivered to time and budget.

Accountabilities / Key responsibilities

  • Manages all SCL tunnel works on site. Ensure works on site are carried out safely with due regard to the protection of the workforce, public and the environment.
  • Report all construction issues to the Tunnel Manager.
  • Manages a team of Sub-Agents and Engineers 
  • Ensure that all certificate, assurance and compliance certificates are generated and collated.
  • Prepare and review Method Statements and ITPs. Coordinate materials approval process.
  • Produce Weekly reports on site progress. Ensure the daily logs are produced and contain all the relevant information about the works carried out.
  • Manage effective use of materials and control of waste.
  • Responsible for managing the SCL construction teams.
  • In absence of the Tunnel Sub Agent, attends RESS meetings, agrees RESS and delivers RESS briefing
  • Ensures that all procedures and documents (RA-MS, Excavation Sequence, RESS reports, ITP, MIP, Q&A etc) are in place for the safe and efficient running of the tunnel works.
  • Ensures NCRs are raised by the production team when defects are identified.
  • Prepares with the logistics manager the daily logistics cycle to efficiently operate the site.
  • Provides information about the costs incurred (plant, labour and materials) and assist the Commercial manager to prepare costs estimates.
  • Ensures the works are carried out in accordance with the IFC drawings. Ensures that all temporary works are carried out as per the IFC drawings.
  • Assist the tunnel manager to periodically carry out H&S inspections.

Job-Specific Safety Responsibilities

  • Ensure the tunnel site is established in a professional and safe manner.
  • Ensure that the Safe System of Work is followed and kept up to date for all SCL activities.
  • Ensure a programme of tool box talks and method statement briefings is implemented for all operations under their control.
  • Ensure that subcontractors conduct their activities in a safe manner and comply with safety rules and procedures.
  • Encourage operatives to report any near misses, hazards observed and any defects in plant or equipment.
  • Address any hazards reported or observed and take out of service any defective plant or equipment.
  • Ensure that processes are in place so that all plant and equipment used on site is safe, free from defect and has the required statutory certification.
  • Co-operate with health and safety advisors in all health and safety matters.

Experience:

Mandatory:

  • Have a good working knowledge of English, both written and verbal, and be able to report at management level.
  • Significant tunnelling experience and at least 2 years SCL experience, preferably working on large scale projects.
