Due to project expansion, we are currently recruiting for an experienced SCL Site Agent to join a long-term project based at Hinkley Point C.

This role is inside IR35 and will offer the right candidate a long-term role in a manager tier 1 project.

To be considered for the role you must :

  • Working with, but subordinate to, the SCL Project Manager, safely manage all aspects of the sprayed concrete lining works.
  • Support the Construction Manager to coordinate the SCL operations with other activities.
  • Supervise and mentor subordinates to ensure high levels of engineering control and appropriate records are maintained during the construction, with emphasis on defect avoidance and zero defects at completion to ensure Nuclear Safety.
  • Report progress and performance of the SCL operations in regular construction team meetings.
  • Review contractual and technical information and ensure that any ambiguities or shortcomings are identified and resolved.
  • Manage discreet procurement packages as directed by the SCL Project Manager.
  • Support the team to develop construction methodology, SSHEQ procedures, RAMS, ITP’s, and programmes.
  • Assist the SCL Project Manager to obtain suitable resources (Labour, Subcontractors, Plant and Materials) to execute the work in a cost-effective manner and in accordance with all relevant SSHEQ, contractual and programme requirements.
  • Delegate specific responsibilities to team members and ensure that they are competent to execute their duties.
  • Identify any problem areas, agreeing on corrective actions with relevant stakeholders, and ensuring their implementation.
  • Ensure that any opportunities for team performance improvement are identified and acted upon.
  • Ensure that complete and accurate records of the Works are kept.
  • Develop programmes and forecast budgets, assess actual programme and productivity achieved and review weekly, acting where appropriate and reporting any changes to the HPC Commercial Manager.
  • Work closely with the rest of the site team to promote effective teamwork and coordination.
  • Provide regular and ad-hoc reports as requested by senior management.
  • Comply and adhere to all matters pertaining to Quality, Safety & Health and Environment related to the job scope and workplace as required by the Company and the Client.
  • Typically working 10-hour dayshift pattern Monday to Friday but weekend working may be required from time to time.
  • Immediate reports will be working 24 hours per day, 7 days per week on a 7/3, 5/2, 7/4 shift rotation.
  • Understand the contractual requirements of the project and highlight change.
  • Raise contractual issues through the Commercial Manager and respond proactively to client issues
  • Attend on-site change control meetings and risk reduction meetings when requested.

Qualifications: 

  • Civil or Mining engineering qualification to ONC/HNC/Degree level and have at least 5 year relevant professional experience.
  • Must hold a valid suitable grade of CSCS card.
  • Membership of a relevant engineering professional body is ideal but not essential.
  • Technically proficient with a good understanding in other areas in the engineering field and have
  • the professional credibility to engage and inspire others.
  • The individual should have a desire to continuously pursue innovation and development.
