SECTION ENGINEER – MAJOR CIVIL’S PROJECT – NORTH EAST – OUTSIDE IR35
Section Engineer currently required to join a major energy and infrastructure project in the North East. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a high-profile scheme, delivering complex civil engineering works within a fast-paced and technically challenging environment.
Reporting to the Agent and Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing a team of Site Engineers and Setting Out Engineers while ensuring the safe, compliant and efficient delivery of works to programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate a team of 6 Site Engineers and Setting Out Engineers.
- Lead engineering activities across designated sections of the project.
- Act as the primary engineering interface between the project team, client and key stakeholders.
- Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and quality standards.
- Review and approve setting out data and engineering control measures.
- Monitor construction progress and provide regular progress reports to senior management and the client.
- Manage quality assurance processes, ensuring inspection and test plans (ITPs) are completed and maintained.
- Carry out engineering checks and verification of completed works.
- Review technical drawings and design information to identify potential issues prior to construction.
- Utilise CAD software and engineering technology to support project delivery.
- Interrogate and interpret BIM and 3D models to support construction activities and clash identification.
- Coordinate with design teams, subcontractors and client representatives to resolve technical queries.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements at all times.
- Support the production of RAMS, work packages and construction documentation.
Requirements
- Degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Proven experience as a Section Engineer on major civil engineering, infrastructure, energy, rail, highways, power or utility projects.
- Experience managing engineering teams on site.
- Strong setting out and surveying background.
- Excellent knowledge of quality assurance procedures and inspection regimes.
- Experience producing engineering and progress reports.
- Ability to review and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and engineering software.
- Experience working with BIM environments and 3D model interrogation.
- Strong client-facing skills with the ability to build effective working relationships.
- CSCS Card.
- SMSTS (preferred).
- Full UK Driving Licence.
