Our client a major tier one contractor is looking to hire a permanent Section Engineer for their £124m Major Highways Programme in Wokingham.
The project will be working with Wokingham Borough Council under the Scape National Civil Engineering and Infrastructure framework for a four year project, will include the planning, design and construction of nine vital road schemes in Wokingham
The Project includes the development and construction of access and distributor roads, plus associated structures, to four Strategic Development Locations and Barkham Bridge creating twelve thousand new housing units across Wokingham. In detail, the Project involves directly commissioned and delivered construction works at nine site locations and their integration into eight other projects being separately delivered by Developers.
As Section Engineer:
- To control a section of the works, according to a specific discipline. Management of a team of Site Engineers within same discipline.
- Produce Method Statements and Risk Assessments and undertakes periodic reviews;
- Prepare and raise Temporary Works Briefs, following up to ensure timely implementation;
- Carry out Visitors Induction;
- Complete Accident Book and associated reports as required. Able to undertake incident investigations to required standard;
- Undertake and mentors less experienced staff in safety audits.
- Carry out complex setting out;
- Provision of ‘primary’ setting out control and recognizes the optimum location for installation;
- Coach junior engineers in the use of setting out techniques
- Produce Activity Control Plans / Inspection and Test Plans and obtains approval;
Skills:
* Strong knowledge of construction process in one or more of the following areas: Earthworks/Drainage, Pavement, Comms, Structures, Roadworks.
* Hold a valid CSCS card. SSSTS or SMSTS qualified
* BSc or BEng level qualification in a Civil Engineering allied subject or HNC/HND or the equivalent.
