Our client a tier 1 contractor has been appointed by National Grid to deliver the second phase of its London Power Tunnels (LPT2) project in a contract worth £400m.
The £1bn, eight-year project will see the construction of a 32.5km tunnel which will house electricity transmission cables 30m underground.
Work is scheduled to start in March 2020.
The new cables will replace three circuits that currently run under the surface of roads between Wimbledon in the southwest to Crayford in the southeast.
 
Our client requires a Section Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis.
As Section Engineer:
  • To control a section of the works, according to a specific discipline. Management of a team of Site Engineers within same discipline.
  • Produce Method Statements and Risk Assessments and undertakes periodic reviews;
  • Prepare and raise Temporary Works Briefs, following up to ensure timely implementation;
  • Carry out Visitors Induction;
  • Complete Accident Book and associated reports as required. Able to undertake incident investigations to required standard;
  • Undertake and mentors less experienced staff in safety audits.
  • Carry out complex setting out;
  • Provision of ‘primary’ setting out control and recognizes the optimum location for installation;
  • Coach junior engineers in the use of setting out techniques
  • Produce Activity Control Plans / Inspection and Test Plans and obtains approval;
Skills:
* Hold a valid CSCS card. SSSTS or SMSTS qualified
* BSc or BEng level qualification in a Civil Engineering allied subject or HNC/HND or the equivalent.
