Our client a major civils contractor has recently been awarded a £52.4 million contract, to deliver a series of improvements along the A27 near Lewes in East Sussex.
The project will upgrade various junctions along a nine-mile section of the A27 between Lewes and Polegate, creating a new dual carriageway on a short section west of Polegate, with enhanced walking and cycling facilities along the whole stretch.
They require a Section Engineer to join the project on a permanent basis.
Within this role you would be responsible for, but not limited to, any of the following;
As a Section Engineer you will:
- Produce method statements and risk assessments and undertake periodic reviews
- Coach junior engineers in the use of setting out techniques
- Produce activity control plans / inspection and test plans and obtain approvals
- Produce a weekly programme and measure progress against KPI's
- Maintain accurate diaries, including dialogue with external organisations (subcontractors)
Who we're looking for:
- Be able to clearly communicate the requirements of a safe system of work to ensure that these are followed accurately
- Be capable of taking ownership of tasks and communicating outcomes with clarity
- Have a strong work ethic with flexibility to work
- Be able to work on your own initiative and seek out opportunities in line with level of responsibility
- Hold a current driving license and CSCS Card and be SSSTS or SMSTS qualified
- BSc or BEng level qualification in a Civil Engineering allied subject or HNC/HND or the equivalent.
