We are looking for a highly motivated Section Engineer with an ambition to work on a challenging infrastructure scheme. The role on the M1 J13-16 SM ALR scheme will include a variety of different disciplines including earthworks, piling, FRC, drainage, pavements, structural steelwork and vehicle restraint systems.
The key responsibilities of the Section Engineer role are as follows:
· Support Sub-Agent/Agent with NEC contract administration to client and supply chain (SI, EWNs, GCs, TQs and defects)
· Drive team contribution to the collaborative planning and production control process
· Ensure team provide programme outputs as required by the project planning process
· Co-ordination of designers, multiple contractors and other stakeholders
· Oversight & management of design change and technical issues impacting the strategic plan
· Ensuring all works are constructed in accordance with the works information
· Keep a full and accurate daily site diary, including any changes/variations, subcontractors’ attendance, and records of work-related discussions with client/designer/RE/project team. Ensure Site engineering team maintain good quality daily site diary records.
· Develop/review SSOW and coordinate Permit requests/approvals
· Develop/Ensure adherence to quality processes including ITPs, MARs, etc…
· Manage supervise and mentor site and assistant engineers to ensure high levels of engineering control and appropriate records
· Monitor snag items and ensure these are closed in a timely manner. Complete redline drawings, quality handover packs and ITP checksheets in line with project handover processes.
Skills, qualifications and experience
· Managing the strict adherence of project SHE processes
· Civil Engineering related qualification (HNC, HND, BSc MSc, BEng, MEng)
· Minimum 7 years’ experience delivering infrastructure projects in a site role
· Site Management Safety Training Scheme SMSTS
· Other training such as IPAF, TWS, TWC, AP, First Aid, etc to be listed on CV.
· Good written and oral communication skills
· Experience of working in a highly collaborative and team orientated environment
· The ability to manage and control tasks of a team and subcontractors
· Experience in some or all: earthworks, piling, FRC, drainage, pavements, structural steelwork and vehicle restraint systems
