Carmichaels are seeking a Section Engineer for the HS2 project based in Birmingham.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and supervise engineering activities within your assigned section of the HS2 project
- Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of engineering works in accordance with project plans and schedules.
- Conduct regular inspections and quality checks to verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and relevant standards.
- Provide technical expertise and support to resolve engineering issues and challenges promptly, ensuring efficient problem-solving and decision-making.
- Implement and enforce stringent health, safety, and environmental practices on-site, promoting a culture of safety awareness and compliance among all team members.
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, including daily reports, progress records, and as-built drawings, to track project milestones and ensure transparency in project activities.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise construction methodologies, improve efficiency, and mitigate risks.
- Support the development of junior engineering staff through mentorship, training, and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Proven experience (5 years) working as a Section Engineer or similar role on large-scale infrastructure projects, preferably within the rail or transportation sector.
- Strong technical knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and materials.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards, codes of practice, and regulations, particularly within the rail sector.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools.
- Valid CSCS card and relevant professional certifications (e.g., CEng, CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
