Carmichaels are seeking a Section Engineer wit Highways experience to work for a Tier 1 contractor in the South of London.
Responsibilities will include:
- Checking technical information (specifications and drawings); identification of any ambiguities or shortcomings therein and submission of Technical Queries to enable their resolution; take off materials from drawings
- Ensuring the Site Engineers are fully conversant with the construction methodology for the civil engineering works
- Managing the development of HSEQ controls for the civil engineering works;
- Managing the detailed look-ahead programme for the civil engineering works in AIMs;
- Delegation of dimensional control to the Site Engineers and ensuring that the Temporary and Permanent Works are consistently and accurately set out
- Managing the calibration of survey equipment and liaison with the Survey Team;
- Assistance with the day-to-day management of the civil engineering works and the coordination of civil engineering operations with those of other disciplines;
- Safety management duties as delegated by line management;
- Assistance with the management and control of resources (labour, plant and materials) to minimise waste and disruption to progress;
- Reporting at weekly construction team meetings, including progress, any stoppages, additional work instructed and any opportunities for performance improvement;
- Ensuring that complete and accurate records are kept of the civil engineering work to protect the company’s interests and demonstrate compliance with HSEQ requirements
Experience, Knowledge and Qualifications
- Civil Engineering degree or equivalent.
- 2-5 years site experience in Civil Engineering
- Ability to manage a section site engineering team.
- Competent on CAD software and excel
