Job Description:

Carmichael UK are seeking a skilled and experienced Section Engineer specializing in Roads and Networks to join our team at Hinkley Point C. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of the roads and networks, adhering to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage road and network construction activities on site.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, technical standards, and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with site management, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure timely progress.
  • Conduct site inspections and quality checks to ensure work meets the required standards.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed site records, including progress reports, materials usage, and any issues encountered.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the construction team.
  • Assist in resolving any technical or construction-related challenges.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration with other engineering and construction teams.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Proven experience in managing road and networks projects, preferably in a high-security environment or a major civils project
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Proficiency in using relevant software and tools, such as AutoCAD, Revit, and project management software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of health and safety.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with nuclear sector construction standards and requirements.
  • Chartered status or working towards chartered status with a recognized professional body.
