Our client, a Tier 1 contractor with a strong pipeline of work in Scotland, are seeking a Section Engineer to join their team, working on a variety of projects within renewable energy. This role involves contributing to Scotland’s energy infrastructure by constructing new substations to support the country’s transition to net zero.
Role Responsibilities:
As a Section Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading by example in safety and environmental practices.
- Collaborating with foremen and gangers to ensure clarity and understanding of instructions.
- Documenting and confirming any verbal instructions from clients or designers.
- Coordinating formal checks of setting out and completing check request forms.
- Maintaining quality survey book standards and daily engineer diaries.
- Ensuring inspection and test plans are completed and recorded digitally.
- Assisting in the preparation and monitoring of 4-week programmes, tracking progress for weekly site reviews.
- Drafting risk assessments and method statements for work control.
- Keeping a comprehensive and accurate daily site diary.
- Assisting with material requisitions and ensuring cost coding of delivery tickets.
- Supervising engineers, assistant engineers, and chain persons.
- Ensuring all work complies with safety standards and company policies.
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with clients, designers, and supply chain partners.
- Advising engineers on setting out methods and ensuring all drawings and specifications contain accurate, sufficient information.
Requirements:
- Degree or HND in Civil Engineering (or equivalent NVQ level)
- CSCS Level (Academically or Professionally Qualified/Supervisory/Manager)
- SSSTS certification
