CarmichaelUK are recruiting for an experienced Section Engineer to join a leading Tier 1 contractor delivering a major highways project in Cambridgeshire. This is a fantastic opportunity to support a high-profile infrastructure scheme with strong continuity of work.
We are looking for a motivated engineer with solid highways experience, strong technical capability and the ability to coordinate subcontractors, manage QA processes, and support delivery across earthworks, drainage, structures, pavements, or utilities packages.
Key Responsibilities

Support the delivery of highways works including earthworks, drainage, kerbing, structures, utilities and pavement construction.

Manage and mentor site engineers to ensure setting out, inspections and documentation meet project requirements.

Produce and review ITPs, RAMS, WPPs, permits and QA records to ensure compliance.

Assist with planning and programming, progress reporting, and ensuring work is delivered to specification and programme.

Coordinate with subcontractors, designers, temporary works teams and supervisors to resolve technical queries.

Maintain strong safety leadership and compliance with all site procedures and standards.
Requirements

Previous experience as a Section Engineer on highways or major civils projects.

Strong knowledge of earthworks, drainage, structures or other highways elements.

Ability to interpret drawings, manage QA documentation and support delivery teams.

Experience working with a Tier 1 contractor desirable.

CSCS essential; SSSTS/SMSTS preferred.

Strong communication and coordination abilities.
