We are seeking an experienced Section Engineer with strong structures experience to join a major HS2 infrastructure programme based in Southam. This is a key role within the delivery team, supporting the successful construction of complex structural packages including reinforced concrete and heavy civil structures.
You will play a critical role in managing engineering activities on-site, ensuring works are delivered safely, to programme, and in line with design and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the engineering delivery of structural works, including bridges, viaducts, culverts, retaining walls, and reinforced concrete structures
- Supervise and support Site Engineers and subcontractors to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant construction activities
- Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with design drawings, specifications, method statements, and ITPs
- Oversee setting out activities, engineering control, and quality documentation including QA/QC records
- Manage and resolve technical queries (RFIs) and liaise with the design team to ensure buildability and compliance
- Support the Sub Agent/Agent with programme planning, progress reporting, and resource coordination
- Coordinate subcontractors and ensure works are delivered to required programme, budget, and contractual standards
- Assist with preparation of RAMS, risk assessments, and temporary works coordination
- Identify, manage, and mitigate onsite risks and engineering issues
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards at all times
Requirements
- Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
- Proven experience as a Section Engineer on major infrastructure or HS2 projects
- Strong background in structures (RC, bridges, viaducts, heavy civils)
- Demonstrable experience in:
- Setting out and engineering control
- QA/QC and ITP documentation
- Subcontractor management
- Good understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, and temporary works
- Experience working under NEC contracts (desirable)
- Valid CSCS card (essential)
- SMSTS or SSSTS (preferred)
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
