CarmichaelUK are working with one of the principal joint ventures delivering the HS2 project, and we’re looking for an experienced Section Engineer with strong earthworks and drainage experience to join the team in Northamptonshire.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on one of the UK’s largest and most high-profile infrastructure schemes, delivering complex cut and fill operations, bulk earthworks, and associated civils across large sections of the route.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the engineering delivery of earthworks and drainage packages on site

Supervise and support site engineers, ensuring quality, safety, and programme targets are achieved

Manage setting out, design compliance, and technical documentation

Prepare and review ITPs, method statements, and risk assessments

Coordinate subcontractors and liaise with design, commercial, and planning teams

Oversee QA documentation and as-built records

Promote a strong culture of health, safety, and environmental awareness
About You
-
Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)

Proven experience as a Section Engineer on major civil or infrastructure projects

Strong background in earthworks, drainage, and bulk excavation

Excellent understanding of engineering drawings, QA systems, and NEC processes

Confident using surveying equipment (Leica/Trimble) and relevant software
-
CSCS card (essential); SSSTS/SMSTS (desirable)
