Section Engineer - Energy Project (Heavy Civils) – Scotland – Contract (Inside IR35)
 

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Section Engineer to join a major energy infrastructure project delivering complex heavy civil engineering works. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a nationally significant scheme involving reinforced concrete structures, earthworks, drainage, highways, utilities and associated infrastructure.

Working closely with the Site Agent and Project Manager, you will take responsibility for a designated section of works, ensuring safe delivery, quality compliance and programme performance.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and deliver sections of heavy civil engineering works from planning through to completion.
  • Ensure works are carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures.
  • Produce and review RAMS, ITPs and quality documentation.
  • Coordinate site engineers, subcontractors and supply chain partners.
  • Ensure setting out activities are completed accurately.
  • Manage technical queries and liaise with the design team.
  • Monitor progress against programme and identify potential risks or delays.
  • Maintain high quality standards and ensure works are delivered to specification.
  • Record and manage as-built information.
  • Support commercial teams with records, measurements and change management.
  • Attend progress meetings and provide engineering updates to project stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement and promote best practice across the project.

 

Requirements

  • Degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Previous experience working as a Section Engineer on major infrastructure projects.
  • Strong background in heavy civil engineering works.
  • Experience with reinforced concrete structures, earthworks, drainage or utilities.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Good understanding of quality assurance and construction methodology.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Proficient with setting out and surveying equipment.
  • CSCS Card as a minimum.

 

Desirable

  • SMSTS or SSSTS.
  • Temporary Works Coordinator experience.
  • Experience on energy, power, nuclear, renewables or major infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts.
  • Previous experience managing engineers and subcontractors.
