Carmichael UK are recruiting for an experienced Section Engineer with strong highways and drainage experience to join one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects, supporting the delivery of HS2 in Northamptonshire.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on a landmark project, delivering critical infrastructure works while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced construction environment.
The Role
Reporting to the Sub Agent, you'll be responsible for overseeing the delivery of highways and drainage works, ensuring construction activities are completed safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
You will play a key role in coordinating site operations, managing engineering activities and supporting the successful delivery of project milestones.
Responsibilities:
• Manage and coordinate highways and drainage packages from planning through to completion
• Supervise site activities and ensure works are delivered in accordance with design specifications and project requirements
• Produce and review RAMS, ITPs and temporary works documentation
• Manage subcontractors and liaise with site teams to ensure programme targets are achieved
• Carry out setting out and ensure accuracy of engineering controls
• Monitor quality assurance processes and maintain accurate records
• Identify and resolve engineering and construction issues on site
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards at all times
• Support planning activities and contribute to short-term and long-term programmes
• Build strong relationships with project stakeholders and the wider delivery team
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
• Previous experience as a Section Engineer on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects
• Strong highways and drainage construction experience
• Experience working on large-scale projects within rail, highways or heavy civils environments
• Good understanding of technical drawings, specifications and construction methodologies
• Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple work fronts
• Knowledge of quality assurance processes and documentation
• Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements
• HNC, HND or Degree qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• CSCS card (essential)
• SMSTS (desirable)
• Full UK driving licence
