Carmichael UK is working in partnership with a Tier 1 civil engineering contractor delivering works on the HS2 project in Northamptonshire. We are seeking an experienced Section Engineer to take ownership of engineering delivery across PCC installation and reinforced concrete packages on this major infrastructure scheme.
The Role
As Section Engineer, you will be responsible for managing the engineering activities within your section, coordinating Site Engineers and subcontractors, and ensuring works are delivered safely, to programme, and to the highest quality standards. This role is ideal for an engineer who can combine strong technical knowledge with effective planning and leadership.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage engineering delivery for PCC installation works

Supervise and coordinate reinforcement fixing and concrete pours

Manage and inspect waterproofing works, including sprayed and compartmental systems

Ensure works are delivered in line with drawings, specifications, ITPs, and RAMS

Manage QA documentation, as-builts, and technical queries

Support planning and programming activities, including look-ahead planning

Coordinate Site Engineers and liaise closely with site management and subcontractors

Maintain high standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance
About You

Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering

Proven experience as a Section Engineer on major civil or infrastructure projects

Strong background in PCC, reinforced concrete, and waterproofing works

Previous experience with planning and programming responsibilities

Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills

CSCS card (essential); HS2 or Tier 1 contractor experience desirable
