Our client a tier one contractor is looking to hire a Senior Agent for a highways project in Essex.
This is for the A12 Chelmsford to A120 widening project, with a scheme value of approximately £1bn.
They are currently delivering early site survey works and advanced preliminary design.
From Autumn 2020 they shall commence preliminary design. The role will be based in project offices in Croydon and Central London. Occasional visits to client offices in Bedford and Designer offices may be required.
Main delivery works start in 2023.
The role:
- Working with an integrated personnel to develop the detailed design, delivery, and handover of the allocated scheme.
- Reporting to the Construction Manager - key Roles and Responsibilities will include:
- Lead the buildability input into the design for the highways elements of the scheme. Working closely with the Structures Agent and Traffic Management team to develop optimum construction methodologies.
- Support the commercial and planning teams with the development of cost forecasts and programmes for the development of budgets; delivery of works and monitoring of progress
- Develop strategies for the delivery of the works considering access and logistic constraints
- Be accountable for delivering construction proposals which can be delivered safely, efficiently and the required quality ensuring the full implementation of the project management plans
- Package management of ECI Supply Chain
- Ensuring supply chain ideas and efficiencies are reviewed and use to lead the design outputs where required to help deliver to scheme budget.
- Commercial awareness – ensuring design and construction decision making accounts for the balance of SHE, Quality and Cost factors
- Active participation in project improvement (including innovation, SHE, quality)
About you:
- Civil Engineering related qualification (HNC, HND, BSc MSc, BEng, MEng).
- Minimum 10 years’ experience delivering infrastructure projects including.
- Site Management Safety Training Scheme SMSTS.
- Other relevant training (preferred includes Appointed Person, relevant lifting training and temporary works co-ordination) to be listed on CV.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- The ability to manage and control tasks and lead a team
- Willing to mentor and develop junior staff
- Experience in some or all of the following:
- Complex Traffic Management
- Work in environmentally sensitive sites.
- Working within logistically constrained areas – such as Smart Motorway or Online widening environments
- Knowledge and understanding of a good range of highways disciplines including – earthworks, drainage, pavement.
- Willing to work primarily from the team’s project offices in Croydon and Central London with occasional visits to Client and Designer offices.
