Carmichael UK is working with a Tier 1 joint venture contractor delivering a key section of the HS2 programme in Northamptonshire. We are seeking an experienced Senior Site Agent to join the Portal Building delivery team, supporting the construction of critical portal and associated structural works.
This is a senior, hands-on role requiring strong leadership, planning, and coordination skills within a complex infrastructure environment.
The Role
As Senior Site Agent, you will play a pivotal role in the delivery of the portal building works, supporting the development and implementation of the construction strategy and ensuring works are delivered safely, to programme, and within budget.
You will lead site operations, manage engineering and supervisory teams, and coordinate resources to ensure the successful delivery of works in line with contractual and HS2 requirements.
Key Responsibilities

Support the development of the construction strategy, including kick-off meetings and pre-commencement activities

Prepare and manage pre-construction documentation including method statements, quality plans, environmental plans, and construction programmes

Coordinate labour, plant, materials, and temporary works in conjunction with the Agent, Sub Agent, and Section Foreman

Lead and manage the engineering team, including performance management and development

Coordinate day-to-day construction operations to ensure compliance with contract requirements

Ensure the highest standards of safety, health, environment, and quality (SHEQ) are maintained at all times

Manage and contribute to:

Financial forecasting

Site measurement and material reconciliations

About You
-
HNC / Degree in Construction, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)

Proven experience working as a Senior Site Agent or Site Agent on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects

Experience delivering portal buildings, structural works, or tunnel-related projects (desirable)

Strong leadership and people management skills

Sound understanding of site engineering activities combined with construction supervision

SMSTS (essential)

CSCS card (Black, White, White/Yellow, Yellow, or Red Experienced)

Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
