A freelance opportunity exists for a Structural CAD/BIM Designer with experience on industrial/factory type project. Based in either Manchester or Teesside your function will be to produce civil and structural CAD design deliverables, including 3D models, technical drawings, and sketches for pipeline projects
This post can be outside IR35 upon a successful IR35 assessment.
Your duties will include -
- Prepare preliminary and detailed designs in 2D/3D for civil and structural, temporary, and permanent works as requested by Senior/Principal or Lead Engineers and Designers
- Use Aveva E3D for 3D BIM modelling and 2D drawing extraction and/or Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD for some elements of civils design whilst working in a Common Data Environment.
- Ensure that draughting activities are executed within budget and schedule, while maintaining technical integrity
- Ensure that work is carried out with relevant codes, standards and procedures.
- Maintain and develop awareness of current relevant codes and standards
- Effectively communicate with other disciplines to ensure that interfaces are clearly defined and correctly designed.
- Liaise with other departments, project personnel, vendors, clients etc.
Requirements for this role –
- Willing to be based in Manchester or Teesside offices with facility to work remotely and with occasional visits to other offices and sites in line with project requirements
- Qualified to City & Guilds or HNC/HND level. EngTech or IEng ICE. professional qualification an advantage
- Experience of 4D simulation, construction sequencing and clash detection software beneficial.
- Must be competent in design and detailing of foundations, below ground infrastructure, including drainage, cable ducting, etc. and structural steelwork and concrete.
- Experience of reinforced concrete detailing advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work within a team environment, although must be able to self-manage.
