Senior Estimator

Carmichael UK are seeking a Senior Estimator to join a tier 1 civils contractor to assist in the preparations of detailed and accurate pricing of tenders and pricing support for early contractor involvement projects. 

This role will be based in Central London, or in the Swindon office. 

About the Role: 

1. 1. Ensure company governance procedures are followed at all times
   2. Work in coordination with the Bid Manager to ensure competitive pricing
   3. Agree methodologies and outputs for key activities with planner and, where appropriate, with Bid Manager / Design Manger
   4. Provide advice to Bid Manager / Design Manager on most cost effective design options
   5. Price alternative design solutions
   6. Procedure competitive price using methodologies and outputs etc to suit conditions/ situations relevant to the scheme.
   7. Advise Bid Manager of sufficiency of client bill of quantity / activity schedule and arrange for full quantity take off or checking as required.
   8. Preparing the price estimate for tenders of budget pricing comprising the following aspects: Labour, Plant, Materials, Sub contracts, Temporary Works 
   9. Preparing handover documents for successful bids, as well was review unsuccessful bids 

About you; 

1. 1. Sound knowledge of civil engineering and  construction techniques
   2. Knowledge of relevant procurement legislation
   3. Commercial awareness of different forms of contract
   4. Sound knowledge of the governance and procedural requirements for work winning.
   5. Detailed knowledge of estimating software packages
