CarmichaelUK are recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to oversee a package of works at Heathrow Airport.

Scope will be related to fire suppression, Tunnel Ventilation though Jet Fans and a Tunnel FFSS with associated pumping station, high pressure pipework and MOV’s.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review design and installations on site.
  • Establish a list of outstanding works
  • Progress and manage the outstanding works with sub-contracts and directly employed fitters.
  • Establish MEP requirements in the quality plan for design, build and test.
  • Obtain off-site back up for technical reviews that cannot be competently undertaken on site.
  • Keep abreast, record and monitor design changes as the work progresses. Ensure all change is properly reviewed before approved.
  • Ensure ‘as-builts are kept up to date.
  • Coordinate received designs with civils, buildings, MEP and other specialist systems
  • Produce TQ’s as appropriate
  • Coordinate with/ attend meetings with Heathrow Airport Ltd – representing BAM’s interests.
  • Coordinate with/ attend meetings with MEP suppliers and subcontractors – representing BAM’s interests.
  • Expedite procurement/ manufacture – report on progress
  • Prepare method statements
  • Hold/ attend site coordination meetings and plan/ schedule installation activities
  • Answer on-site technical queries
  • Record change and instructions
  • Assist the commissioning manager for FFSS and Ventilation Systems
  • Assist the quality team with completion of ITP’s  

 

The Individual

  • Degree or technically qualified engineer in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
  • Member of IMechE/ IET/ CIBSE or has the qualifications to become chartered.
  • Cumulative 10 years’ experience and competency in Building Services,
  • Project Experience >£5M MEP, preferably some airport experience or Road Tunnel experience.
  • The candidate should be familiar with and able to use the microsoft suite of office programmes.
  • Good communications skills.
  • Be well organised.
  • There may be some occasional night work.
