An opportunity exists for a Senior Planner on a major infrastructure civil engineering project. Experience working on large civil engineering projects that include heavy reinforced civil engineering structures like bridges, retaining walls, heavy foundations, bespoke piling and structural steel is essential and so is previous mainstream delivery experience prior to becoming a Planner.
Duties will include
- Create the baseline programs within the Master programme and in conjunction with the delivery team, with the use of first principles planning as well as your civil engineering practical experience and knowledge of sequencing.
- Engage operational teams to drive delivery using the program, ensuring they fully understand the requirements and project goals.
- Resource and cost load programmes in order to establish and maintain internal and external project controls reporting.
- Assessing supply chain and subcontractor schedules and programs
- Developing and maintaining a 4D programme.
- Introduce and analyse changes in programmes in accordance with site activities.
- Produce and communicate programme information in a variety of formats, using routine and bespoke programme outputs including Power BI
- Collect and distribute feedback.
- Present programme information clearly
- Ensure compliance with the business processes and systems.
- Undertake analytical assessment of programmes.
Requirements for this opportunity include –
- Previous hands-on delivery experience for a UK tier one principal civil engineering contractor as a Site Engineer/Sub Agent/ Agent prior to planning experience.
- Competent at creating a baseline program from first principles using your hands on civil engineering construction experience.
- Proven experience in construction sequencing process.
- Proficient in critical path analysis, earned value management, S-Curve generation, resource planning, delay analysis, project recovery, EOT claims, early warning and compensation events.
- A tertiary Civil Engineering qualification.
- A good understanding of commercial including typical production rates as well as contractual matters on a NEC project whilst supporting the commercial team
- Thorough experience and understanding of programming techniques using P6 on civil engineering projects.
- A clear ability for logical thinking and working in an orderly fashion.
- The ability to work to a defined, often challenging, timescales.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships on projects and interface with operational teams and suppliers.
