We are seeking an experienced Senior Planner to support the delivery of a major electrical substation project, covering works from plinth upwards through to energisation and commissioning.

This is a key role within the project controls function, responsible for developing, managing, and communicating a fully integrated programme across design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases, working closely with both electrical and civil delivery teams.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the integrated project programme from design through to commissioning
  • Establish the baseline programme, ensuring alignment across all disciplines including civils and electrical works
  • Interface closely with the Civil Planner to ensure programme integration and sequencing of works
  • Monitor progress against the baseline, identify variances, and implement corrective actions
  • Manage change control processes, including impact assessment and programme re-baselining where required
  • Undertake critical path analysis, scenario planning, and lookahead scheduling
  • Identify and assess risks and opportunities within the programme, driving mitigation strategies
  • Produce clear, concise programme reports and present updates to stakeholders
  • Translate complex programme data into simple, understandable outputs for project teams and senior management

 

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Planner on electrical substation or similar power/energy infrastructure projects in the UK for a tier one delivery contractor
  • Strong understanding of EPC project delivery including design, procurement, installation, and commissioning phases
  • Demonstrable experience in programme creation, baseline management, and change control
  • Ability to integrate multi-discipline programmes (electrical and civils)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify risks and propose solutions
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly summarise and convey programme status
  • Proficient in planning software such as Primavera P6 (or equivalent)

 

Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering preferred; Mechanical Engineering or similar technical discipline also considered
