Job Title: Senior Project Manager

Location: Brighton 
 


Purpose of the Role

To lead and manage the successful delivery of multi-disciplinary design and construction projects, ensuring alignment with company strategy. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for project execution from inception through completion, maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction while ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.


Key Responsibilities

  • Champion exceptional health, safety, and quality standards across all site and subcontracted activities.

  • Ensure implementation and compliance with the Business Management System (BMS) throughout project lifecycle.

  • Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with clients, partners, and suppliers.

  • Oversee project planning, including the approval and delivery of the Project Execution Plan (PEP).

  • Manage project delivery, ensuring resources are available and competent to meet project goals.

  • Approve detailed construction plans and method statements prior to work commencement.

  • Ensure accurate and complete documentation and record-keeping as per project close-out requirements.

  • Proactively identify and manage project risks, issues, and non-conformities, including cost implications.

  • Oversee all commercial aspects of the project, including forecasting, cost estimation, and contract compliance.

  • Promote continuous improvement through lessons learned and innovation.

  • Represent the company professionally in all internal and external interactions.


Technical and Professional Competencies

  • Solid working knowledge of water and wastewater design and build project delivery.

  • Experience across full project lifecycle, from initial concept through to final handover and acceptance.

  • Familiarity with NEC and/or IChemE contracts; able to manage and administer contract terms effectively.

  • Expertise in CDM regulations and construction Health & Safety.

  • Skilled in presenting at senior governance reviews and managing stakeholder expectations.

  • Competent in risk and opportunity management across complex projects.


Person Specification

Essential:

  • Extensive project management experience in multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects, preferably in the water industry.

  • Degree or equivalent in engineering, construction, or a related discipline.

  • Recognised Project Management qualification (e.g. APM PMQ or equivalent).

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with a collaborative approach.

  • Track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time, within budget, and to specification.

  • Strategic thinker with operational and technical acumen.

Desirable:

  • Experience delivering water and wastewater treatment projects.

  • Chartered status with a professional engineering, construction, or commercial institution.

  • NEC Project Manager Accreditation.

  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development.


Additional Information

This role may require travel to project sites and occasional extended working hours. The Senior Project Manager is expected to maintain a proactive, solution-focused attitude and contribute positively to team culture and company reputation.
