Senior Project Manager – Civil Engineering

We are seeking a driven and experienced Senior Project Manager to take ownership of complex civil engineering projects from planning through to successful completion. This is a leadership role, requiring strong technical expertise, contractual awareness, and team management capabilities.

You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, train, and mentor the on-site team to maximise performance and collaboration.

  • Review and interpret contract agreements; identify risks, inconsistencies, and ensure alignment with project goals.

  • Develop and manage project programmes and budget forecasts; track progress and take corrective action as needed.

  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, contracts managers, and commercial teams to ensure seamless project execution.

  • Maintain oversight of subcontractor performance, resource allocation, and skills requirements in line with the programme.

  • Ensure compliance with inspection and test plans, method statements, and health & safety requirements.

  • Maintain accurate records of site resources, especially regarding variations and additional works.

  • Champion quality, safety, and environmental best practices on site.


What We’re Looking For:

Essential:

  • Degree or HND in Civil Engineering (or related discipline)

  • Strong knowledge of construction contract law and forms of contract

  • Extensive experience in managing civil engineering projects from inception to completion

  • Deep understanding of engineering principles and modern construction techniques

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills

  • CSCS Card (relevant category)

  • Formal training in Health & Safety and Environmental Management

Desirable:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering

  • MICE or MAPM Membership

  • Vocational training and proven success in project management
