Job summary: 
Carmichael Recruitment Agency on behalf of our client are seeking a critical thinking individual with solid commercial experience. This Commercial Consultant (qualified and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor) will support the upcoming Infrastructure portfolio in NSW and will be responsible for managing contracts and all sub-contract documentation.
 
Jobs Task and Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of commercial procurement relationships, systems and practices for major or mega projects ($100m to $1,0 billion plus)
  • Manage procurement and cost reporting
  • Develop and manage procedures to recognise and identify contract disputes 
  • Analyse contract terms and conditions to highlight areas of risk
  • Manage procedures to identify contract disputes and manage resolution under the contract
  • Evaluate and sign off on change orders
  • Prepare cashflows
  • Must have relevant commercial experience (including experience in Transaction Services, Contract Management, or Contractual Claims)
  • Have background in the industry (construction, asset owner or consulting related to infrastructure assets)
  • Participate in the review and assessment of contractual and commercial risks for each project
  • Undertake risk and commercial analysis of tenders and bids
  • Oversee consultancy and sub-contract agreements
  • Provide specialist advice on claims and contract variation issues for live projects
  • Conduct reviews of commercial and financial performance of projects
  • Carry out commercial reviews of bid / tender documents and propose appropriate departures for compliance with company risk profile and commercial limits
  • Carry out negotiations on commercial issues leading to contractual close
  • Carry out reviews of project team compliance with commercial and financial reporting requirements
  • Provide advice to project teams on the administration of contracts and securing entitlements to variations and extensions of time
  • Provide advice on and assist in the preparation of contractual claims for ongoing projects
 
Knowledge, skills and attributes:  
  • Tertiary qualifications in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
  • Experience in major or megaprojects
  • Extensive industry experience ( 7+ years)
  • Experience working on rail or infrastructure projects
  • Be a critical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Have well-developed analytical and research skills
  • Have the ability to work at a high pace within a dynamic and challenging environment
