We are urgently looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the work at Hinkley Point C (Somerset) - to start as soon as possible. 

The Senior Quantity Surveyor, reporting to the Commercial Manager will be responsible for the commercial and contract management across the site.

Main objective of the position: Senior QS will be responsible for the commercial and contract management of numerous allocated structures/projects on a major project, together with the wider role to support other members of the project commercial team.
Build an excellent relationship with the project team and with the Client through regular communication and regular site visits. A self-disciplined and thoroughly organised approach is required, contract deadlines must be planned and met, whilst contract notifications and applications made.
In addition to contract management, the Senior Quantity Surveyor will work with the finance and procurement teams to ensure regular cost reports are completed and sub-contracts are prepared and operated.

 

Key Responsibilities:

▪ Commercial management / contract administration of allocated structures / project(s).
▪ Support to other Commercial lead.
▪ Provide commercial support to other members of the project team.
▪ To the extent possible, manage the commercial aspects of the project to enable it to be completed on time, within budget and to the correct standards.
▪ Operation of the contract and timely submission of notifications / communication to the client.
▪ Preparation of payment applications and internal cash flow reporting.
▪ Preparation and operation of sub-contracts and supplier agreements.
▪ On-going cost reporting for allocation project/s.
▪ Site visits, assessments and projections for future work.
▪ Regular liaison with the project teams to ensure rights for compensation events or claims are upheld.
▪ Regular liaison with the client to ensure excellent relationships are built and maintained, and issues identified and resolved where possible, primarily with the commercial team

 

Minimum Requirements:

▪ Proven experience in a similar role;
▪ Relevant degree qualification;
▪ Good knowledge and operating experience of NEC3 Option C forms of contract;
▪ Excellent IT skills (Microsoft Excel & Word);
▪ Full driving license;
▪ Experience in a heavy civils environment is preferred.

 

 

This role will be site based, with some hybrid flexibility for the right applicant
