Carmcichael UK are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join us at Devonport Royal Dockyard, Plymouth where we are the preferred contractor to carry out heavy civil engineering construction.
Due to the site being a high Security Military Naval base, additional security checks will need to be made – BPSS level of security clearance is required. These checks can take 4 weeks - and sometimes more.
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the following:
- Management of a £40m package of works on a Nuclear licensed site including the management of a team of junior QS’ mentoring and nurturing their development to assist with the following tasks where applicable.
- Provide commercial input including financial and contractual performance forecasts to the management team. Help ensure that business targets and KPI’s are met / exceeded.
- Ensure cash flow is maximised including ensuring payments are made and received on time.
- Preparation and review of monthly cost reports for area, together with review of results and consideration of trends with other contract team members
- Forecasting and monitoring spend against approved Client budgets.
- Physical measurement of works and agreement of same with client and subcontractors.
- Agreement of certification and payment of subcontractor accounts - monitoring of such accounts against forecasts
- Implementation and compliance with the contract change control procedure and monitoring thereof including communications to client as appropriate.
- Managing sub-contractors including sending out enquiries, collating prices, comparing with tender, negotiation, order placement, agreement of account and payment
- To assess, review and mitigate commercial and contractual risks and implement Kier Group's policies for risk management.
- Client facing role so good communication skills are essential.
Who are we looking for?
- Fully converse and experience of NEC Contracts
- Experience with the use of CEMAR desired but not essential
- Experience working with Coins / Causeway accounting systems.
- Team player and working with a highly skilled diverse team.
- Holder of a Full UK Drivers Licence
- Educated to Degree level, or equivalent experience.
- Experience within a similar role
- Confident IT skills, proficient in the use of MS Office in particular Excel
- Excellent Communication skills both written and verbally.
- Must be an excellent organiser with proven time management skills.
- Professional Accreditation desired eg. RICS, ICE etc.
