An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a major infrastructure contractor delivering works on the London Power Tunnels Project. This nationally significant scheme will enhance and reinforce London's electricity network through the construction of deep underground cable tunnels, shafts, substations and associated civil engineering infrastructure.
The successful candidate will take ownership of the commercial management of a major section of works, ensuring robust cost control, contract administration and subcontract management throughout the project lifecycle. This role is ideally suited to an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in large-scale infrastructure, utilities, tunnelling, rail, highways, water or heavy civil engineering projects operating under NEC contracts.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial management of allocated project packages from procurement through to final account.
- Prepare, manage and maintain accurate cost reports, forecasts and CVRs.
- Manage subcontractor procurement, tendering, negotiation and appointment processes.
- Administer subcontract agreements and ensure contractual compliance.
- Assess and certify subcontractor applications for payment.
- Prepare and submit client applications, valuations and compensation events.
- Identify, manage and mitigate commercial risks and opportunities.
- Provide accurate forecasting of project costs and cash flow.
- Support change management processes and negotiate variations.
- Work closely with operational teams to maximise project performance and profitability.
- Prepare and agree final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with company governance procedures and commercial controls.
- Mentor and support Assistant Quantity Surveyors and Quantity Surveyors within the team.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or related discipline.
- Extensive experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor on major infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts.
- Proven experience managing subcontract packages and commercial risk.
- Experience working on utilities, power, tunnelling, rail, highways, water, nuclear or major civil engineering projects.
- Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and financial reporting capabilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and commercial management systems.
- Full UK driving licence.
