Senior Risk Engineer – Carmichael UK

Carmichael UK are recruiting for a Senior Risk Engineer to join a major infrastructure project in London. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in ensuring the successful execution, implementation, and compliance of the project’s Risk Management Plan within a designated contract area.

The Senior Risk Engineer will report to the Head of Risk, providing high-quality reporting, analysis, and insight to support a resilient programme of works. You will lead and guide Risk Engineers, maintain the Contractor’s Risk Register, and work closely with stakeholders across multiple disciplines.


Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and monitor the risk management process within your contract area, covering risk identification, assessment, decision analysis, and quantitative estimation (QCRA & QSRA).

  • Support the Head of Risk in building a strong risk-aware culture through communications, training, and engagement across the project team, subcontractors, and suppliers.

  • Produce risk reports tailored for different audiences, ensuring accountability and awareness at all levels.

  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders (BIM, design, procurement, safety, commercial, change control, etc.) to integrate risk management practices.

  • Conduct regular risk reviews, audits, and compliance checks, identifying mitigation strategies and driving continuous improvement.

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and training to Risk Engineers, ensuring skilled resources are maintained within the Risk & Opportunity Management department.

  • Contribute to integrated risk team meetings, supporting cross-area evaluations and analysis.

  • Support delivery teams in managing risks associated with project change, actively liaising with Trends and Change Management teams.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering (desirable) or a relevant risk-related qualification.

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in risk management, preferably on major infrastructure projects.

  • Proven expertise in quantitative cost and schedule risk assessments using Monte Carlo simulation (@Risk) and Safran Risk.

  • Strong executive-level communication skills with the ability to challenge and influence senior stakeholders.
