As part of this role, the candidate should expect to carry out work within the following areas:  Lead the research and development of transport policy documents and strategies, engaging with a range of stakeholders through appropriate consultation.

 Leading the response to transport-related consultations initiated by Department for Transport, Local Enterprise Partnerships, District Councils, National Parks, rail industry, bus/ferry operators, ports/ airports or other bodies.

 Development of Business Cases and preparation of funding bids to a variety of funding streams at a range of scales and complexities.

 Development of transport improvements in accordance with government guidance from concept through to implementation as part of integrated transport capital programme, LTP area transport strategies, Town Access Plans, or other.

 Leading the delivery of transport schemes through Client and project management to achieve strategy objectives, including financial management.

 Coordination and monitoring of teams and projects to achieve targets.

 Project manage delivery of smarter choices/ behaviour change initiatives (such as LSTF or successor programmes).

Required Qualifications and Experience • Degree level qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant Transport Planning field.

• Chartered status with a relevant body or equivalent experience

• Extensive experience of leading a team

• Ability to identify, develop and maintain constructive relationships with team and stakeholders.

• Good written and verbal communication skills (including report writing).

• Ability to work in a political environment. Decision Making Areas

• Provision of highway development control and planning advice.

• Lead the preparation and/ or assessment of travel plans for workplace sites, residential households, educational establishments and rail stations or ferry interchanges

• Make recommendations to Members and senior management over project options Working Conditions

• Hybrid working (mixture of working at home and in the office), with infrequent visits to live sites

• Communicating with colleagues and contractors in a challenging environment

• Ability to fulfil the travel requirements of the role
