SETTING OUT ENGINEER – NORTH EAST – CONTRACT – OUTSIDE IR35
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Setting Out Engineer looking for a long-term freelance assignment on a major UK infrastructure project.

Status: Outside IR35
Setting Out Engineer currently required to join a major civils and infrastructure contractor delivering works on a large civils project in the North East. This role offers the opportunity to work on significant reinforced concrete structures as part of one of the UK's most important energy and decarbonisation schemes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Setting out and surveying for reinforced concrete structures.
- Accurately setting out bases, beams, walls, plinths and associated civil engineering works.
- Supporting construction teams to ensure works are delivered in accordance with design drawings and specifications.
- Producing and maintaining setting out records.
- Carrying out quality assurance inspections and as-built surveys.
- Working closely with Site Engineers, Sub Agents and Project Engineers.
- Ensuring all works are completed in line with project quality and health & safety standards.
- Assisting with dimensional control of formwork and reinforced concrete activities.
- Managing survey equipment and maintaining calibration records.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Setting Out Engineer on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
- Strong background in reinforced concrete structures.
- Experience setting out:
- Bases
- Beams
- Walls
- Plinths
- Formwork
- Competent using Leica, Trimble or equivalent survey equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- CSCS Card.
- SMSTS or SSSTS beneficial.
- Full UK driving licence preferred.
Desirable Experience
- Energy, power, petrochemical or industrial projects.
- Large-scale infrastructure works.
- Earthworks, drainage and reinforced concrete construction environments.
- QA documentation and inspection testing records.
