We are recruiting for an amazing opportunity for a committed and dedicated TBM and SCL surveyors for one of the most exciting infrastructure projects in the UK. Hinckley Point C will be the first nuclear energy plant built in the UK for over 30 years and you could be part of the team, which deliver this innovative energy project. Working on this project will not only gain you valuable skills and experience, but you will enhance your future career prospects by having worked on this project.
 
The works involved, which you will be working on, will include the major marine, tunnelling and precast packages on the project. You will be joining a highly skilled survey monitoring team in which you will learn new skills and utilise your existing abilities. This is a contract role for 12 months.
 
As a Tunnelling Survey Engineer, your duties will include:
 
  • Daily surface settlement for shaft sites and siphon tunnel drive
  • Primary control traverse between shaft sites and verification of surface secondary control
  • Maintenance of control networks and transfer to underground including datum levels
  • Baseline readings for surface arrays pre-tunnelling
  • Survey instrument site check and adjust
  • Install and maintain permanent primary underground survey control brackets
  • Ad-hoc setting out for site team / subcontractors
  • Setting out checks and calculations for site engineer(s) including pre-pour QA / ITP sign-off
  • Profile reports for shafts, wriggle reports for tunnel, portals and headwall
  • Ad-hoc asbuilt, laser scans and topographic survey requests
  • Monitoring data reports for face loss calculations
  • Ability to mentor other staff in the department i.e. survey assistants
  • Competent and up to speed with the latest Leica and Trimble equipment.
  • Produce good quality QA records for all surveying work
  • Carry out monitoring exercises in line with the I&M plan
  • Process and present topographical surveys
  • Carry out and present as-built surveys
