Site Agent - Rail - Station Upgrades – North West – Contract (Inside IR35)
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Site Agent to join a leading main contractor delivering a portfolio of railway station upgrade and enhancement projects throughout the UK.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the successful delivery of station improvement schemes, including platform extensions, Access for All projects, footbridges, lifts, concourse refurbishments, passenger facilities, and associated civils and rail infrastructure works.
Reporting to the Project Manager, you will take responsibility for the safe, efficient and profitable delivery of projects from site mobilisation through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day site operations across railway station upgrade projects.
- Ensure works are delivered safely, on programme and within budget.
- Lead site teams including Engineers, Foremen, Supervisors and subcontractors.
- Develop and implement construction programmes and short-term work plans.
- Ensure compliance with Network Rail standards and client requirements.
- Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to senior management.
- Manage project costs, variations and subcontractor performance.
- Oversee quality assurance processes and ensure works are delivered to specification.
- Lead site meetings and coordinate interfaces with stakeholders.
- Produce and review RAMS, ITPs and construction documentation.
- Ensure all health, safety and environmental standards are maintained.
- Coordinate possessions, isolations and rail access requirements where required.
- Liaise with Network Rail, train operating companies, local authorities and third-party stakeholders.
- Support project planning, procurement and commercial management activities.
Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Site Agent within the rail industry.
- Proven track record delivering railway station upgrades, Access for All schemes, platform extensions or station enhancement projects.
- Strong understanding of Network Rail standards and procedures.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary construction activities in live operational railway environments.
- Ability to manage programmes, budgets and subcontractors effectively.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent communication and reporting abilities.
Essential Qualifications
- HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
- SMSTS.
- PTS.
- CSCS Card.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable Qualifications
- Temporary Works Coordinator.
- COSS.
- First Aid at Work.
- APM or equivalent project management qualification.
