Our client a tier one civil engineering contractor are delivering a 10-year Term Maintenance contract with Peterborough City Council to carry out highways maintenance and improvement schemes within the City of Peterborough. The contract commenced in Sep 2013 and includes the delivery of individual projects between the values of £0.5m to £5m

They require a Site Agent to join their team on a permanent basis.

Role Profile

The Site Agent reports to our Project Manager and will be wholly responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of a range of Highways Improvement schemes.

Your responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise schemes on-site valued between £0.5m to £5m, ensuring that work is carried out safely, on time, to budget and in accordance with the HSEQ standards required by the client and Peterborough County Council (PCC).
  • Day to day management of site issues
  • Develop construction programmes and methodology utilising existing knowledge & experience and through engagement with Key Supply Chain.
  • Monitor and control site activities ensuring quality of work - Right first time every time
  • Effective internal and external stakeholder liaison and management
  • Ensure Construction Phase Plans, method statements and safe systems of work are in-place before work is started and that required safety standards are maintained at all times.
  • Fully engage with the commercial team and take responsibility for the commercial performance of the project.
  • Assist internal design resource with Early Contractor Involvement and buildability Compliance and PCC H&S, Quality and Environmental processes, procedures, reporting and performance requirements

Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications:

  • Experience of supervising Highway improvement and Public realm work.
  • Detailed understanding of health and safety management and the requirements of CDM.
  • Experienced user of a proprietary planning package eg. ASTA, Microsoft project Primavera
  • Detailed knowledge of quality and environmental standards for highway improvement work.
  • Commercially aware with knowledge of budget and cost control processes
  • Good communication skills
  • IOSH/ SMSTS preferable
  • CSCS
  • Driving licence
