Our client are an award winning privately owned civil engineering contractor working for a varied client base to deliver schemes in highways, utilities, rail and flood alleviation.
They are recruiting a Site Agent as part of a controlled period of growth to work on flood and coastal erosion schemes through the Environment Agency framework.
The immediate role would be to support one of their project managers on a number of early contractor involvement (ESE/ECI) commissions, based either at the EA’s office in Worthing or our design partners JBA in Haywards Heath, with occasional trips to London.
You would then go on to deliver a £2M flood wall scheme in Shoreham, Sussex, which is due to start on site in July/August of this year. Subject to funding allocations you would then move on to delivering an £8M flood embankment/wall scheme in Rye, East Sussex, which is due to start in spring 2021.
Much of the work in the foreseeable future, both ESE/ECI and construction, is on or near the Sussex & Hampshire coast.
You would ideally have the following attributes;
• some experience of working on flood or coastal schemes
• certainly some experience of input pre-construction in an ECI role
• may need to be flexible in work location – whilst there known workload is described above, the pipeline of project stretches to Southampton in the west and south London to the north.
• Self-motivated and able to work autonomously after initial guidance
• Able to work in a collaborative framework environment – they are the sole supplier on the EA framework and really need to manage that relationship.
• Have a working knowledge of NEC contracts (NEC 4 ECC option C is the default contract)
The Site Agent will be responsible for:
- Managing sub contract and staff labour
- Procurement of specialist sub contractors
- Programme management
- Managing monthly site meetings
- Assisting the QS with monthly CVRs
- Ensuring good cost control
- Managing health and safety
This is a permanent role.
