Carmichaels are seeking a Site Agent to work on a major highways project with a Tier 1 contractor in Birmingham.

The role will focus on the construction of Gantries and associated signage. The works will involve establishing logistics, understanding site constraints, implementing temporary works solutions, retaining structures, sheet piles, FRC, gantry steelwork, gantry technology and ADS signage, and understanding technology interfaces with the gantry structures. You are expected to manage the forecast and delivery of all concrete

 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing designs and raising quires to the design team
  • Write Temporary Works Design Briefs
  • Produce whole life programmes for works  
  • Tracking progress and producing 4 week lookaheads
  • Write Subcontract Scopes as required
  • Generate cost forecasts for plant and materials
  • Ensure quality processes are followed
  • Write risk assessments and method statements
  • Set and maintain clear expectations for health and safety within your team
  • Ensure the relevant environmental control points and hazards are noted in the RAMS

 

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree level qualification in a Civil Engineering allied subject or HND in Civil Engineering and vocational training in Engineering
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge and understanding of engineering principles and common construction methodologies.
  • Knowledge and understanding of temporary works processes, design and management.  
  • Knowledge and understanding of construction contracts (through experience and formal training). Ideally ECC NEC4.
  • Digital competence (MS Office 365, document control systems, site digital tools).
  • Formal training in Health & Safety and Environmental management (SMSTS/SSSTS)
  • CSCS Card
  • Experience in delivering major highways schemes, ideally SMART motorways schemes.
  • Experience in managing the delivery of gantries.
  • A basic understanding of traffic management.
