SITE ENGINEER – CUMBRIA – HIGHWAYS – LONG TERM CONTRACT – INSIDE IR35

The Opportunity

Site Engineers currently required to work with a Tier 1 highways contractor delivering a major highways infrastructure project in the North West. Due to continued project growth, we are looking to appoint an experienced Site Engineer to support the delivery of earthworks, drainage, structures and highways construction works.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established project team on a long-term scheme with strong future career progression opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out setting out using GPS, robotic total stations and surveying equipment.
  • Ensuring all works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications and project tolerances.
  • Producing and maintaining quality assurance documentation.
  • Managing Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), check sheets and quality records.
  • Conducting site inspections and supporting client quality audits.
  • Producing as-built surveys and associated records.
  • Raising RFIs and technical queries where required.
  • Supporting subcontractors with engineering information and technical guidance.
  • Monitoring progress and assisting with short-term planning activities.
  • Ensuring works are delivered safely and in line with company procedures.
  • Assisting with temporary works, permits and construction documentation as required.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a Site Engineer on highways or major civil engineering projects.
  • Strong setting out background.
  • Experience managing QA procedures, inspections and handover documentation.
  • Knowledge of earthworks, drainage, kerbing, pavement construction and reinforced concrete works.
  • Competent using Leica, Trimble or Topcon surveying equipment.
  • Experience producing as-built records and quality documentation.
  • HNC, HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Valid CSCS Card.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

  • SMSTS or SSSTS.
  • Temporary Works Coordinator or Supervisor experience.
  • National Highways project experience.
  • Knowledge of digital engineering and machine control systems.
