Site Engineer
Location: South East England
Rate: Competitive Day Rate (Outside IR35)
Duration: 3 Month Contract
Carmichael UK is seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join a Tier 1 civil engineering contractor delivering a major water infrastructure project.
This role will focus on enabling and investigative works, supporting the delivery of ecological and environmental surveys, trial holes, trial trenching, archaeological investigations, and associated site works ahead of construction activities.
Responsibilities
- Setting out and surveying works across the project.
- Managing and overseeing trial holes, trial trenches, and intrusive site investigations.
- Coordinating ecological, environmental, and archaeological surveys.
- Producing and maintaining accurate site records and as-built information.
- Ensuring works are delivered in line with project specifications, quality standards, and environmental requirements.
- Supporting subcontractors and specialist survey teams on site.
- Assisting with permits, RAMS reviews, and temporary works requirements where applicable.
- Liaising with site management, designers, environmental teams, and client representatives.
Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Site Engineer on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
- Experience managing or supporting ecological surveys, environmental investigations, trial trenching, trial holes, and archaeological exploration works.
- Background working on water, utilities, infrastructure, highways, rail, or major civil engineering projects.
- Competent using surveying equipment and producing setting out information.
- CSCS Card as a minimum.
- HNC, HND, or Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Experience working for a Tier 1 contractor.
- Knowledge of environmental compliance and permitting requirements.
- Temporary Works or SSSTS/SMSTS qualifications.
