CarmichaelUK are working with a Tier 1 JV on the HS2 Enabling works who are looking for Site Engineer to join their Utilities team ASAP.

This section of works is due for completion in April 2022.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee site operations ensuring construction works are carried out to high standards of quality and safety.
  • Plan and coordiante works around third-party and neighbouring HS2 contracts.
  • Identify constructability issues and develop resolutions to be implemented as Field Changes.
  • Ensuring quality checks are carried out in accordance with Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Identify non-conformances and appropraitely raise these as Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and follow throguh to close out.
  • Work with the subcontractor to ensure the timely preparation of Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS),  Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Permits and Consents for the works and that these are implemented.
  • Ensuring Permit to Dig, Temporary Works and other safety systems are implemented.
  • Provide support, assistance, and information to other teams as necessary such as Community Relations, Highways (Traffic Management), Consents and Logistics.
  • Engage with commercial colleagues as appropriate to support change management and review subcontractor quotations.
  • Participate in the process of putting teams to work playing an active role and delivering Start on Site briefings and inductions as required.

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Ensuring health and safety is given the highest priority in the delivery of the works
  • Be familiar with, and demonstrate commitment to the requirements of the Health & Safety and Environmental Policies
  • Ensure that the Health & Safety and Environmental Policies and Procedures are effectively communicated to the workforce and implemented
  • Work collaboratively with the HS2 team and other contractors, subcontractors works packages to achieve the overall project goals
  • Actively engage with the Targeted risk monitoring and support the drive for an injury free environment.
  • Actively close out Health & Safety and Environmental reports on site working with the subcontractor and returning completed report to respective advisor.

Other Responsibilities

  • Maintain a detailed site diary using site procedures.
  • Managing the supply chain to ensure that they deliver in an efficient way and in accordance with the Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements.
  • Understands the scope of the works and can identify change.
  • Promoting the pursuit of excellence and continuous improvement, driving innovation, adopting best practice, standard processes and procedures.
  • Actively engage with activities outside of normal job role including Mental Health First Aider training, Behavioural Management Training and other skills and training that will ensure a more rounded and capable engineer.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Degree or equivalent in Civil/Mechanical Engineering.
  • Prior experience in Civil Engineering/Infrastructure projects with some knowledge and experience with regards to multi-utility works.
  • Ideally qualified Temporary Works Supervisor (TWS).
  • Relevant CSCS Card.
