CarmichaelUK are working the main JV on the HS2 Main works in London, who are looking for a Site Engineer to join their team is West Ruislip.
The Engineer will be providing site-based support & engineering supervision to the works and undertaking duties to ensure positional & qualitative compliance for delivery of the works. The role requires close coordination with site supervisors, subcontractors & trades, under direction from the Section Engineer or Sub-Agent.
Key Duties
The candidate will be required to undertake (but not limited to) the following duties to support the construction:
- Take-off & quantify materials (measurement & calculation) from design drawings and requisition the materials accordingly to meet programme.
- Undertake all setting-out duties for the works to ensure works are constructed dimensionally correct.
- Write Task Briefing Sheets & Start of Shift briefings.
- Manage & Maintain Quality Assurance records for the works in accordance with the Inspection & Test Plan (Eg. witness Concrete testing & checking of delivery tickets, steel inspections, formwork inspections, witnessing backfilling of excavations with aggregate, drainage systems etc).
- Coordinate & facilitate the mobilisation and ongoing supervision of Subcontractor’s on site. Ensuring they are inducted onto the project, that they have the appropriate safety & documentation approved and are working in compliance with Safety Management Procedures.
- Draft & issue a detailed & accurate shift report on a daily basis; recording all site activities, deliveries, daily outputs & issues etc. Inclusive of photographs.
- Draft & seek approval to issue Permits to Works (Excavations, Temporary Works, etc).
- Undertake weekly safety inspections to ensure compliance against Safety Management Procedures.
- Coordinate daily site activities with the Works Manager & Foreman/Supervisors on site.
- Deliver Site Specific Safety Inductions & Briefings as required.
- Draft Technical Queries about the design, in the event things need changing.
- Contribute to the planning & programming of works, supporting the Section Engineer when required.
- Communicate any site issues/problems (safety, quality, environmental) to Senior team members.
Relevant Experience:
- Setting-out and/or quality inspection of reinforced concrete works (including Formwork, rebar & concrete).
- Excavations or groundworks involving deep drainage, or basement construction.
- Major civil engineering works, involving complex temporary works and heavy plant.
