Carmcihael UK are seeking a site engineer for the major civils work at Hinkley Point C. This role is permanent and basic salary will have a generous package on top.
You must be open to working a shift pattern.
What you'll be doing |
As a Secondary Lining Site/Shift Engineer, you will have the following accountabilities:
To assist the Secondary Lining Team with the following:
- Setting out RC (reinforced concrete) tunnels and galleries, with a focus on reinforcement and formwork installation
- Reviewing and understanding drawings and specifications, ensuring the latest revisions are always available on site
- Implementing the ITP (Inspection and Test Plan), carrying out Quality inspections ensuring that evidence sign off is achieved at every step of the works
- Ensuring construction activities are delivered safely and in accordance with quality and programme requirements
- Understanding and updating RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) and ITP’s (Inspection and Test Plans) and ensuring these are implemented during site works
- Managing and coordinating daily site activities and reporting daily progress
- Identifying and submitting NCR’s (Non-Conformance Reports) and RFI’s (Requests For Information)
- Adopting and promoting a culture of ‘Right First Time’
- Carrying out H&S (Health and Safety) inspections

Who we're looking for |
You will have the following:
- HNC/ HND/ BEng/ MEng in Civil Engineering
- Hold a valid CSCS card
- Must hold a UK driving Licence
- Setting out experience
- Ability to interpret reinforcement and formwork drawings
- Experience carrying out Quality inspections
- Good understanding of spoken/ written English
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Thorough knowledge of construction procedures and working methods
- The ability to solve problems and think on your feet
- Flexibility to work on a 10hr shift pattern Monday to Friday, including weekends (Days, Backs, Nights)
The following qualities/experience are desirable:
- Experience in setting out reinforced structures (preferably tunnels)
- Experience in shift work
