Overview
We are seeking a proactive Site Engineer to join our highways and infrastructure delivery team on the HS2 project in Brackley. The successful candidate will support the engineering control and coordination of complex civil works, contributing to the development of the UK’s largest transport infrastructure programme.
Key Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day engineering support for highway works including earthworks, drainage, structures, utilities, pavements, and associated infrastructure.

Set out works with accuracy, ensuring compliance with design drawings, specifications, and tolerances.

Carry out QA inspections, record as-built data, and ensure testing and documentation meet HS2 and National Highways standards.

Manage permits and coordinate temporary works requirements.

Work collaboratively with construction teams, subcontractors, designers, and client representatives.

Monitor progress vs programme and highlight engineering challenges or risks proactively.

Support health, safety, environmental, and quality initiatives in accordance with HS2 project requirements and CDM regulations.

Assist in resolving technical queries, change control processes, and maintaining communication logs.

Contribute to method statements, risk assessments, and task briefings.
Skills & Experience
-
Previous experience as a Site Engineer on highways or major civil engineering projects.

Experience working on, or interfacing with, HS2 works highly desirable.

Strong setting-out knowledge across highways elements and earthworks.

Familiarity with surveying equipment (e.g., GPS, total station, digital levels).

Competent with digital record management and engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Trimble, BIM tools).

Solid understanding of relevant standards (DMRB/MCHW) and quality assurance processes.
Qualifications

Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or related field.

CSCS card essential; PTS, SMSTS/SSSTS advantageous.

Full UK driving licence.
