We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join a major HS2 infrastructure project based in Chipping Warden. The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of highways, drainage, and associated civil engineering works, ensuring construction activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with design specifications and quality standards. The role is suited to an engineer with strong setting out experience gained on large-scale infrastructure, highways, or heavy civil engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Setting out and surveying works in accordance with design drawings and specifications.
  • Managing and coordinating highways, drainage, earthworks, and associated civil engineering activities on site.
  • Producing and maintaining accurate site records, as-built surveys, and quality documentation.
  • Ensuring works are completed in line with programme requirements and project milestones.
  • Liaising with Site Agents, Sub Agents, Section Engineers, subcontractors, and design teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Carrying out quality inspections and ensuring compliance with ITPs, specifications, and project standards.
  • Supporting temporary works implementation and ensuring engineering controls are maintained.
  • Monitoring health, safety, and environmental performance, promoting a positive safety culture at all times.
  • Assisting with planning and coordinating labour, plant, and material resources.
  • Providing technical guidance and support to site teams and subcontractors.

Requirements

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience working as a Site Engineer, Senior Engineer, or Setting Out Engineer on major infrastructure projects.
  • Strong background in highways, drainage, roads, earthworks, and reinforced concrete structures.
  • Previous experience working on HS2, National Highways, rail civils, or other major infrastructure schemes would be advantageous.
  • Proficient in the use of surveying equipment including GPS, Total Stations, and AutoCAD.
  • Good understanding of quality assurance processes, ITPs, and engineering documentation.
  • CSCS card essential.
  • SMSTS or SSSTS desirable.
  • Full UK driving licence.
