Steel Fixer – Plymouth
Location: Plymouth
Duration: Long-term work
Basic Rate: £24.26 per hour
Overtime 1: £36.39 per hour
Overtime 2: £48.52 per hour
We are currently looking for experienced Steel Fixers to join a major long-term construction project in Plymouth.
Duties will include:
· Cutting, bending and fixing reinforcement steel in accordance with drawings and specifications
· Fixing steel reinforcement, mesh and associated materials
· Reading and interpreting reinforcement drawings and schedules
· Tying reinforcement using appropriate tools and techniques
· Installing reinforcement for concrete structures, slabs, walls and foundations
· Working closely with formwork, concrete and site teams
· Ensuring reinforcement is positioned correctly prior to concrete pours
· Using hand and power tools associated with steel fixing
· Maintaining high standards of health and safety on site
Competencies / Requirements:
· Level 2 NVQ in Steel Fixing
· CSCS Blue Skilled Worker Card
· Safety Critical Medical
· Previous experience working as a Steel Fixer on construction or civil engineering projects
· Ability to read and work from reinforcement drawings and schedules
· Good understanding of steel fixing and reinforcement techniques
· Ability to work effectively as part of a busy site team
· Must be able to meet the project's BPSS security clearance requirements
Security Clearance Requirements
Due to the security-sensitive nature of the project, all successful applicants will be required to complete BPSS security clearance before starting on site.
Applicants must be able to provide the required documentation and information to successfully complete the vetting process, including proof of identity, right to work and employment/history checks.
Due to the project’s security requirements, applicants must meet the required nationality eligibility criteria, including being a national of a NATO member country where applicable.
All offers and start dates will be subject to successful completion of the required security vetting and clearance process.
This is a long-term opportunity on a major infrastructure project in Plymouth, with excellent overtime rates available.
