Steelwork Mechanical & Electrical Estimator

Our client is a privately owned nationwide supplier of maintenance services. Serving
Steel fabrication and construction, Marine Fabrication, Electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering, Project management, Rigging and slinging.

 Job Description

To read and understand mechanical and electrical planned maintenance tenders and provide a pricing estimate to suit the tender inquiry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare/analyze costings for tenders and contract documents, including bills of quantities, occasionally with the consultant/architect and/or the client
  • Procurement of specialist Mechanical and Electrical Sub-Contractors
  • Undertake cost analysis for repair and maintenance project work
  • Assisting the negotiation of variations, calculations & settlement of final accounts
  • Assist in establishing a client's requirements
  • Understand the implications of health and safety regulations
  • To develop standard costs to develop and monitor for the use of operational assets and resources.
  • To participate in site visits to assess/define customer requirements.
  • To ensure that customers contractual requirements, terms and conditions and standards are taken into account as appropriate in the preparation of estimates and bid packages.
  • To constantly develop estimating process to improve estimate response times.

Necessary Skills Essential:

  • Work to a high degree of accuracy with good organizational skills
  • Have a good knowledge of general building services
  • Strong communication skills
  • The ability to work to strict submission deadlines
  • Excellent IT skills using Microsoft Office, especially Excel skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • The ability to work as part of a team and take responsibility for own work
